Using and maintaining this machine
Check the conditions alongside each answer. Foot attachment, shank type and adapter requirements are separate; one does not establish universal accessory fit.
Bobbins and hook
Oem marking requirement
conditional
Use J-marked plastic bobbins for the horizontal hook; other bobbins, including pre-wound paper bobbins, may cause stitching problems or holder damage.
Exact manual recommendation only; no item fit or class 15/15J inference.
Insert with thread running counterclockwise; hold the bobbin, thread the front notch and guide paths 1 then 2, confirming exit at the side notch, then replace the hook cover.
Always make sure to press the lockout key to lockout the machine or turn the power switch off before inserting the bobbin.; If thread does not exit the side notch, rethread from step 1. Follow all steps on the cited page; unless otherwise noted, sewing can start without drawing up bobbin thread.
Fine: Blue tip or Universal #9/65–11/75; medium Red tip, Purple tip or Universal #11/75–14/90; heavy Red tip, Purple tip or Universal #14/90–16/100.
Fabric and silk/cotton/synthetic thread rows remain attached in the exact source table; test on a scrap of the actual fabric. Recommendations, not universal system proof.
Insert flat side to rear, push to stopper pin and tighten clamp firmly with a screwdriver.
Always make sure to press the lockout key to lockout the machine or turn the power switch off before changing the needle.; Raise needle with up/down button; lower presser foot for S3/S6 as the cited page specifies; never use blunt needle.
Remove needle plate, needle, presser foot, bobbin and holder; brush holder, feed dog and auto thread cutter, wipe the hook race, and replace holder with knob next to stopper; reassemble all removed components.
Power off AND unplug; follow every exact removal/reassembly step. Use the exact manual needle-plate removal cross-reference.
Fabric size recommendation: Fine: Blue tip or Universal #9/65–11/75; medium Red tip, Purple tip or Universal #11/75–14/90; heavy Red tip, Purple tip or Universal #14/90–16/100.
