Using and maintaining this machine

Check the conditions alongside each answer. Foot attachment, shank type and adapter requirements are separate; one does not establish universal accessory fit.

Bobbins and hook

How is the bobbin case removed safely?

conditional

Turn power off and unplug, raise the needle and foot, remove the hook cover plate, open the hook cover, pull the case latch and take the bobbin case straight out; release the latch to drop the bobbin from the case.

  • This is the documented removal procedure; the adjacent exclusive-bobbin sentence names base model 1600P and does not establish a DB/DBX bobbin specification.

Source evidence · 2 unique proof passages: Profile Proof E1, Profile Proof E2

How is a bobbin wound?

conditional

With power off, route thread through the guide behind the thread-guide bar, under the winding-tension disk, and through the bobbin hole from inside to outside. Align the notch with the spindle spring, seat the bobbin and move the stopper left. After setup is complete and hands are clear, turn power on, hold the free end and press the winding button for several turns; stop, cut near the hole, then restart. Winding stops automatically when full.

  • Complete all threading and bobbin placement with power off. Turn power on only after setup is complete and hands are clear; return the stopper, cut the thread and remove the bobbin when winding is done. The dedicated motor permits winding while stitching, but this does not relax the safe setup sequence.

Source evidence · 2 unique proof passages: Profile Proof E1, Profile Proof E3

Which direction and path does bobbin thread follow?

conditional

Place the bobbin so thread winds clockwise, draw thread through the case slit, under the tension spring and through the opening, and leave about 10 cm; it should spin clockwise when thread is pulled.

  • This procedure does not establish bobbin class, material, dimensions or MPN.

Source evidence · 1 unique proof passage: Profile Proof E4

How is the bobbin case installed?

conditional

Hold the case latch open, align the case slot with the hook rib, release the latch to lock it, then close the hook cover before attaching the hook cover plate.

  • Keep power off and unplugged while the hook cover is open.

Source evidence · 2 unique proof passages: Profile Proof E1, Profile Proof E4

Needles and threading

Which needle system applies?

conditional

Use a DB x 1 needle for 1600P-DB and 1600P-DBX.

  • Do not substitute the ordinary 1600P manual page's HLx5 instruction.

Source evidence · 1 unique proof passage: Profile Proof E5

Which way is the needle inserted?

conditional

Turn power off and unplug, lower the foot, loosen the clamp, then insert the needle fully with its groove to the left and small scarf to the right before tightening firmly.

  • Use a straight, good-quality needle and preserve the DB x 1 system requirement.

Source evidence · 2 unique proof passages: Profile Proof E1, Profile Proof E5

Which needle sizes match each material weight?

conditional

The DB x 1 chart lists size 9 or 11 for lightweight fabrics, 11 or 14 for medium-weight fabrics, and 14, 16 or 18 for heavyweight fabrics.

  • Choose within the source-listed range for the named fabric/thread combination; no one size is universal.

Source evidence · 1 unique proof passage: Profile Proof E5

Presser feet and adapters

How is the documented presser foot replaced?

conditional

With power off and the machine unplugged, raise the presser-foot lifter, loosen the setscrew, insert the documented replacement foot from the bottom, and tighten the screw with the large screwdriver.

  • This establishes only the documented screw-mounted replacement procedure, not generic or high-shank compatibility.

Source evidence · 2 unique proof passages: Profile Proof E1, Profile Proof E6

Which presser-foot pressure settings apply?

conditional

Use pressure 3 for regular sewing, reduce pressure for appliqué, fine synthetics and elastic fabrics, and use 1 for extra-fine fabrics.

  • Do not reduce foot pressure below 0.

Source evidence · 1 unique proof passage: Profile Proof E6

Care and ownership

How should the hook and feed dog be cleaned and oiled?

conditional

With power off and unplugged, remove the needle, foot, hook cover plate and needle plate, then brush the hook and feed dog. For frequent use, oil daily with two or three drops of MO-70 at each illustrated location, wipe excess, remove the case before oiling the hook race, and sew waste fabric afterward.

  • Unplug before cleaning or oiling; the manual image, not this summary, controls the exact oil locations.

Source evidence · 2 unique proof passages: Profile Proof E1, Profile Proof E7

How should threads be cut on this model?

conditional

Use the thread cutter on the face cover.

  • This is the explicit 1600P-DB method; do not claim the DBX automatic cutter for this model.
